Why Choose Upper Cervical Chiropractic for My Child?
More and more parents are seeking chiropractic care for their children. Dr. Sarah loves working with newborns and children. It is her passion and honor to have this opportunity.
Children may be safely and gently adjusted within hours of being born. Birth is an amazing and life changing event, but is often the first major trauma that we endure. Even during the gentlest of births, presentation of the baby’s head through the birth canal requires physical pressure exerted by the mother. This can force the baby’s neck to twist or bend, causing misalignment of the Upper Cervical spine. Cesarian births, the use of suction and/or forceps and prolonged labor can compound the problem and place the newborn at a unique risk for developing Upper Cervical problems.
Growing from a baby to a young adult inevitably includes many tumbles and falls, increasing the risk of injury to the Upper Cervical spine. As with adults, an Upper Cervical subluxation can impact the nervous system’s ability to communicate within the child’s body.
The resulting nerve system imbalance can be the cause of many newborn and children health complaints, including:
- ADHD/ADD
- Allergic reactions
- Asthma
- Autism
- Breathing problems
- Colic
- Constipation
- Ear infections
- Headaches
- Muscular Torticollis
- Nocturnal Enuresis
- Nursing difficulties (not able to latch on, preferred nursing on one side, not able to suck hard enough to get to the hind milk)
- Scoliosis
- Sleep disturbances
An evaluation is necessary to assess whether an Upper Cervical subluxation is present and whether benefits from Upper Cervical care are possible.
